Sample Student Evaluation/Assessment Instruments

I feel that evaluation/assessment should be constantly taken place in the classroom. Students should not see assessments as punishments or a hard task. Assessment should be a process that will assure learning. Assessing can be easy done, like asking questions. This is where informal assessment comes into place. Informal assessments are the best, students don’t realize that they are being assessed, and the teacher receives an honest response from the students. Also formal assessments are highly important as well. In formal assessment the teacher must take into consideration the diversity inside the classroom, and also the skills practiced during the unit or lesson. I think the best way of evaluating and assessing student is from a constructivist point of view. Allowing the students to build their own knowledge, during the lesson, will assure the students learning process. Students learn whatever it is meaningful for them. If the students find information and build upon their previous knowledge they will be able to anchor their knowledge and keep it. The teacher’s role is to facilitate learning, promote learning, and guide the students to their achievements. This is why assessment should be students based learning.
